MAC Joined UNESCO and ICCROM to discuss ‘Museums After the Pandemic’

MAC President Natalie Urquhart joined international colleagues on 23 July for a UNESCO and ICCROM panel discussion about ‘Museums after the Pandemic’. Exploring the effects of COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the international museum community, the panel addressed critical questions and decisions about the future of our museums. In order to successfully overcome the ongoing and future challenges of a post-COVID-19 world, it will be crucial for museums to adapt and proactively demonstrate their value to society. This includes not only enhanced outreach, but also innovative and meaningful ways to promote sustainable development through conservation, education and public engagement and other collections-based activities.

MAC looks forward to continuing these discussions within our own museum community. What are the ways in which we can realize the full potential of museums as agents of transformation as we navigate the post-pandemic world?
