    Public transportation in Panama includes the Metro (subway) and the Metro Bus. Rides on Line 1 of the Metro cost $0.35, while Line 2 costs $0.50. Payments can be made using a rechargeable Metro card or a credit card (Visa or Mastercard). The rechargeable Metro card costs USD 2.00, can be used for both the Metro and the Metro Bus, and can be purchased at Metro stations such as Iglesia del Carmen, Albrook, 5 de Mayo, San Miguelito, San Isidro, and Los Andes. For safety reasons, it is recommended to buy the card at Iglesia del Carmen or Albrook stations. The Metro operates from Monday to Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Saturday from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and on Sundays and holidays from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

    Most Metro Bus rides within the metropolitan area cost $0.25 and can be paid using a rechargeable Metro card. Yellow taxis are also widely available throughout the city, with most rides costing between $3 and $10, depending on the destination. However, it is highly recommended to use transportation platforms like Uber and Lyft, which are also available in Panama, as they offer increased safety.
