MACCon 2026 Call for Proposals

Theme: Caribbean Museums: Connectors, Conveners, and Catalysts for Change

Dates: November 9-13, 2026

Location: Hyatt Regency Trinidad Port of Spain, Trinidad

The Museums Association of the Caribbean (MAC) is pleased to announce an open call for proposals for the 2026 MAC Conference, centered on the theme Caribbean Museums: Connectors, Conveners, and Catalysts for Change.

This year’s focus considers the ways Caribbean museums build meaningful connections among generations, across varied landscapes, and between nations. Guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals including quality education, sustainable communities, climate action, reduced inequalities, and peace and justice the gathering will explore how memory work, cultural stewardship, and active community engagement support well-being and long-term sustainability in an evolving global context. The questions are urgent. The stakes are real.

We invite submissions that showcase the breadth and richness of museum practice throughout the Caribbean and its diasporas, whether through community-led projects, bold curatorial experimentation, cross-disciplinary partnerships, environmental frameworks, or approaches rooted in care, accessibility, and equity. We are especially interested in work that feels grounded, responsive, and forward-looking at once, reflecting both local realities and shared regional aspirations.

Suggested Areas Include

Connecting Communities & Cultural Memory Convening Dialogue & Collaboration Catalyzing Change & Reimagining Museum Futures Care, Environment & Cultural Resilience

The submission deadline is May 29, 2026. Proposals may be submitted in English, French, Spanish, Dutch, or Papiamento and should be submitted via the link below:
