Keynote Conversation
We are honored to welcome Lonnie G. Bunch III, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, to the MAC 2026 Conference. The conference runs November 9–13, 2026 in Trinidad & Tobago.
As part of this year’s program, Secretary Bunch will join Ariana A. Curtis. Curtis serves as Curator of Latinx Studies at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. Additionally, the seaside conversation will explore museums, leadership, cultural memory, and the power of heritage institutions to shape communities. It will also consider how heritage institutions influence our future.
As a historian, museum leader, and founding Director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, Secretary Bunch’s work reflects this year’s theme: Caribbean Museums: Connectors, Conveners, and Catalysts for Change.
Join museum professionals, scholars, cultural practitioners, educators, and heritage advocates from across the Caribbean and its diasporas for this exciting gathering.
